12.20 A Final Farewell to Storyville @ The Old U.S. Mint

WEDNESDAY, December 20, 7:30pm (New Orleans):

Throughout this year, several Clarinet Road events commemorated the centenary of the closing of the Storyville red-light district. Though often credited as the place where New Orleans musicians started making their music in a different way, my programs have relied less on that mythology, and more on simply honoring early pioneers of New Orleans music, playing their songs and exploring the city’s soundscape a century ago. The Louisiana Museum Foundation hosts at the Old U.S. Mint, and if you can’t be in New Orleans, we will be streaming the concert. More on that soon!
