About This Event:
The fourth and last presentation about deeper listening to improvised music discusses the ensemble and dialogue among the musicians. The previous weeks pushed for hearing the individuals, appreciating their ability to defy expectations and value the narratives of their improvisations. Combining those tools is important to hear the astounding level of communication that happens on the bandstand. It is also important to recognize the audience's role in shaping a live performance.
This course is hosted by Jazz at Lincoln Center and marks their return to in-person "Swing University" programming.
