Louie’s Dream

Louie's Dream - For Our Jazz Heroes (2013)

Yamin and Christopher are torchbearers for a time long gone, but they aren't museum piece musicians. They each extend the traditions of this music in their own sweet way here, as they pay their respects the best way they know how: through song."

About This Music:

This labor of love with NYC pianist/educator Eli Yamin has eleven songs dedicated to several of our heroes who embody the promise of jazz music.

The title track, Louie's Dream is a composition by Louis Armstrong alumnus, Marty Napoleon. Armstrong only recorded this rarity once, and in our revival of the song, we used Eli's non-profit (JazzPower.com) to see that Marty, who was still living at the time, received a larger "royalty" from us than he got from Louis!

I love the clarinet/piano duo format. It speaks to my penchant for an acoustic, chamber music approach that works best with dynamic, studied players like Eli.
