About This Music:
It was only a little over two years after I moved to New Orleans that I accepted regular employment as a member of the Jim Cullum Jazz Band based in San Antonio, TX. From 1996 to mid-1998, I was their featured clarinetist and sometime in the middle, around 1997, I took the rhythm section in the studio for what was essentially my debut CD under my own name. Well, there was an attempt at recording in 1993 when I was still in college, but it was more of a "demo."
This was also the only recording using the Boehm system clarinet (as seen on the cover art), before switching exclusively to the Albert fingering system. Shortly after completing this project, I left the band and hung around Texas for another year or so. By 2000, I was already making my way back to New Orleans. In 2002, I sold the master to Jazzology Records in New Orleans who re-did the artwork.
